A new way of returning tigers to the wild will be tested in Primorye
The temporary enclosure, which was built at the site of release, is actually just a part of taiga, about 50 to 50 metres, but surrounded with a fence. On May 12 both tigers were immobilized with a sleeping pill, placed in cages and taken from the place of their rehabilitation to that temporary enclosure at the place of release. The predators will have a week to relax from the stress that was caused by the move. «In about seven days, the enclosure will be opened and the tigers will be able to go wherever they want,» Viktor Kuzmenko, the director of the «Tiger Centre», commented.
The scientists hope that the «soft» release will allow the two young predators to successfully adapt to the life in the wild and remain a couple.
