The tuberculin test in Russia is done in child day care centers and schools, and usually, the patients and their parents are advised to take care and not to wet the test place. However, on March 23., the main phthisiologist of the Russian Ministry of Health Irina Vasilieva has explained that one can wet the Mantoux test, but it is not allowed to destroy it mechanically.

«One may wet it, but not scratch. One should not twitch it or scrub with a bath pouf… The Mantoux test could be treated not so strictly as it was recommended before. Most importantly one should not irritate the skin,» - Vasilieva said.

According to Vasilieva, the recommendation not to wet the Mantoux test has been connected to the fact that a wet place on a body it normally toweled off which is, in fact, mechanical damage of test place.
