RGO expedition on the Arctic island of Victoria have established 10 thousand of radio communication

Members of the Yamal branch of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) have established radio links to radio amateurs from around the world more than 10,000 times during the expedition to Victoria Island, the westernmost island of the Russian Arctic, located between Spitsbergen and Franz Josef Land.

The expedition, which members of the Yamal branch of the RGO were part of, studied on Victoria island the behaviour of radio waves under Arctic conditions.

They have established more than 10 thousand radio communication sessions with respondents from around the world, and now they are sending out special cards confirming the fact of radio communication session. Researchers contacted radio amateurs from around the world — not only in Russia, but also in Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands and the US.
