The Northern Fleet and the RGO will seek historical artifacts in the Novaya Zemlya archipelago
It is planned that in the course of the expedition the routes the pioneers took to be examined as well as the areas they researched, the military units and subunits deployments locations on the Novaya Zemlya naval base during the Great Patriotic War to be studied, along with the burial sites of the Red Army soldiers and the Red Navy. The Arctic explorers are to be commemorated by installing a memorial sign in Kamenka Bay, in the memory of the first wintering in the Novaya Zemlya Land of the expedition of Peter Pakhtusov in 1832−1833 as well as restoring a stele there, and also by installing a memorable sign in Russkaya Gavan settlement. Attempts will also be made to find various historical artifacts, equipment and weapons from the war and post-war years, which will subsequently become part of the expositions of the museums of the Northern Fleet.
