Scientists have dated the ancient temple of Albi-Erdy in Ingushetia to between VII and X centuries

Scientists conducted a radiocarbon analysis of some parts of the Christian temple of Albi-Erdy in Djeyrakh district, a highland area of Ingushetia, which allowed them to date the architectural monument to VII-X centuries. That means that Albi-Erdy could be one of the oldest Christian churches in Russia.

Tkhaba-Erdy, also located in Ingushetia, was until now considered the most ancient temple in Russia. The scientists intend to refine the dating of Albi-Erdy, since the time of its construction could be anywhere between 668 and 974 AD.
