Synchrotron in Primorye will help FEFU to achieve more in the field of medicine and biology

The construction of the most modern device for study of molecular structures, namely a synchrotron, will allow scientists at the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) to do more thorough research in the fields of solid state physics, creation of new materials, molecular biology, and medicine, announced Alexander Molochkov, the head of the Chiral Biophotonics Centre at the Far Eastern Federal University.

«Synchrotron centres are part of the modern scientific infrastructure, they help solve fundamental and applied problems in the fields of solid state physics, molecular biology, and medicine. It opens possibilities of raising research to a whole new level of quality, enables to create a modern technopark of accelerating technologies, which the synchrotron could become the focal point of,» said the head of the Centre, which specialises in the study of proteins, quantum materials, and transmission and storage of information in living matter.

The construction of the facility would take some 3−5 years, Molochkov stated.
