Russian doctors proposed to introduce stem cells into the pelvis
Russian physicians suggested using MMSC to increase the percentage of successful bone marrow transplant operations. MMSC is one of the types of stem cells that participate in the formation of hematopoietic stem cells, and their main source is also the red bone marrow. It has been tried previously to introduce multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells intravenously together with HSC in an attempt to increase the likelihood of hematopoiesis recovery, but such operations were unsuccessful.
The authors of the work introduced MMSC directly into the red bone marrow of eight patients, who had not had hemopoietic function restored within a month after a HSC transplantation. But this time six out of eight patients had the hemopoietic function recovered within a month.
