Skoltech scientists improved the technology of soil purification from heavy metals

The preparation for the restoration of soils contaminated with heavy metals, which stimulates the microbial community of soils to self-repair and reduces the level of toxicity of organisms, was selected by scientists from Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) and their Czech colleagues, the press office of the Russian university reported on Thursday.

«Scientists from Russia and the Czech Republic have improved the in-situ remediation technology for soils polluted with heavy metals. The researchers were able to experimentally pick out the type and concentration of the substance, the introduction of which into contaminated soils not only reduces the mobility of heavy metals, but also stimulates the soil biome to self-repair as well as reduces ecological toxicity of soil organisms,» the message says.

Maria Pukalchik, one of the authors of the study, said that humic preparations are some of the most effective for the restoration of soils contaminated with heavy metals.
