«Currently, there are problems with the state of knowledge of sanitary and hygienic state of soils, there are gaps in information on the dynamics of soil development in agricultural landscapes, as well as in information on sources of poly chemical contamination of soils and soil covering. That is why the project is important and relevant for the region. The study will cover all the cities of the Autonomous District and such settlements as Kharsaim, Aksarka, Novy Port, and Yar-Sale,» Kolesnikov said.

The project will study the levels of soil pollution in Yamal cities and towns, in particular the content of toxicants in the soils.
