Rare butterfly species discovered at the natural reserve on Kamchatka

A butterfly belonging to a rare species Underwing Adultera has been for the first time observed at the territory of Kronotsky Natural Reserve on Kamchatka. This nocturnal butterfly which is not abundant in this area has been added to the new edition of the Red Book of the region as announced at the web-page of Kronotsky Natural Reserve.

According to an employee of the reserve, they must watch for the butterfly for about a week. «The scientists have informed us than in autumn one can expect an active flight of rare butterflies which have been already observed at the territory of Milkov region of Kamchatka. In the course of field labors, a day-light source has been installed. About a week has been spent when we were waiting for Underwing Adultera,» - a district state inspector of natural reserve Ilya Kudryashov said.
