«Izvestia»: investments in the quantum computer project can reach 900 million rubles

The volume of investments in the project of creation of super-powerful quantum computer which was set up by a consortium consisting of the Vnesheconombank, VEB Innovation, Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects (FARP), Moscow State University named after M.V. New algorithms will be being developed as well to solve specific problems, he explained. «Without adequate mathematics, a quantum computer will not have any practical significance. The creation of quantum algorithms will let us talk about a fundamentally different quality of solving problems of great computational complexity such as modelling human intellectual abilities, optimal distribution of transport and logistic flows, weather forecasting, and so forth,» Garbuk told Izvestia.

Vnesheconombank, Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects, VEB Innovation, the Moscow State University, and the ANPO «Digital Economy» signed an agreement on the creation of a 50-qubit quantum computer on February 15 during the Russian investment forum Sochi-2018.
