Development of innovative projects in nuclear energy will be discussed at a conference in Obninsk

The development of innovative projects in the field of nuclear energy will be discussed by leading Russian scientists at the scientific and technical conference 'Neutron-physical problems of nuclear energy (Neutronics-2018)', which is being organised for this autumn by the I.I. Leypunsky Institute of Physics and Power Engineering (IPPE, based in Obninsk, the Kaluga region), one of the world’s leading scientific centres in the nuclear industry, the message of the IPPE says.

The conference will be held from 28 to 30 November 2018. There are presentations planned on substantiation of the neutron-physical characteristics of reactor facilities and innovative projects, use of numerical modelling in solving reactor physics problems, solutions to the physical problems of closing the nuclear fuel cycle of large-scale nuclear energy projects, and substantiation of nuclear and radiation safety of the fuel cycle.

«The neutronics of a fast reactor is a serious issue, which opens the possibility of creating reactors of a completely new type. It is a new type of power industry, there is a lot of science in it and our scientists do like that. The more science there is in nuclear technology, the more we are involved,» said Andrey Goverdovsky, the director general of the IPPE.
