Arctic Research Centre will present in St. Petersburg a project for monitoring ecology of the Arctic

The Arctic Research Centre, created in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (YNAO), will present a pilot project of integrated scientific monitoring of the state of ecology in the region at the international forum 'The Arctic: Society, Science, and Law', which opened on Tuesday in St. Petersburg, the press service of the centre informed.

"The forum, organised by St. Petersburg State University, the State Scientific Centre of the Russian Federation 'The Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute - AARI', with the support of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, discuss issues of interregional and international interaction, the role and place of scientific schools and law-making activities in the context of the sustainable development of the Arctic. Roman Kolesnikov, a Candidate of Geographical Sciences and the head of the Sector of Geological and Geographical Research of the Arctic Research Centre, will present Yamal experience of organising and conducting an integrated environmental scientific monitoring; this is a pilot project in Russia," the statement said.
