The RAS and the European Physical Society established a prize named after a graduate of MIPT

The Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and the European Physical Society (EPS) have established a prize named after a graduate and professor of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) Vladilen Letokhov, which became the only international award abroad named after a Russian scientist.

«This year the European Physical Society together with the Russian Academy of Sciences have established its highest award and named it in honour of Vladilen Letokhov, a graduate and professor of 'Fiztekh' (as in 'phiziko-tekhnicheskiy' - the Russian for 'Physics and Technology').The prize will be awarded to scientists for exceptional achievements in the field of interaction of laser radiation with matter. This recognition of Letohov’s outstanding contribution to development of laser physics, in particular the spectroscopy of atoms and molecules, laser manipulation of atoms, and the study of processes in strong fields,» says the statement published on the website of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
