«The genetic line that we found inside the Siberian subtype of the virus, which occurs in the area from the Far East to Europe, was named Obskaya. The genetic variation has an unusual structure of the genome and is similar to the oldest genetic line of the Siberian subtype, which is about 1.5 thousand years old,» Tkachev said.

The vaccines that are currently in use will be able to protect against this variation of the virus, Tlachev explained. «The variation of the virus is hardly dangerous for humans,» he added.
