«A new agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and CERN is planned to be signed in 2018, which will formalise Russia’s participation in the second phase of the construction of the Large Hadronic Collider and all experiments at this facility,» the press service said.

Also the new agreement would stipulate the participation of CERN in the construction of scientific facilities of «mega-science» class in Russia, the press service added. «The project will be reviewed by the CERN Council in the first half of the current year and then the document will be signed. As a result, Russia will significantly increase its level of participation in the largest international research organisation in the field of nuclear physics,» the Ministry of Education and Science emphasised.
