Tomsk scientists obtained nanopowders of iron oxide for absorption of irradiation

A scientific team from Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) has come up with a new technique for fast production of nanopowders of iron oxide which almost completely absorb electromagnetic irradiation. Such powders can be created from water supply pipe and oxygen, while their application area ranges from treating military technique to interference blanking, Doctor of Technical Sciences, a professor at the Department of Electroenergetics and Electrotechnique of Engineering School of Energetics at TPU Alexander Sivkov reported.

«One of the main research directions is the synthesis of iron oxide which is widely applied as an absorber of electromagnetic irradiation. Such nanopowder could be used, for example, to create invisible bodies „stealth“ to make an object imperceptible by radiolocation detection, as well as to screen high-frequency electromagnetic irradiation and to blank interferences,» - Sivkov said.

Other applications domains are covering line cables, which will allow for lowering risk of data loss and dactylography.
