Russian scientists found the reason for mental deterioration upon colds
The scientists have investigated how the memory of animals is influenced by the transmission of signals from anti-inflammatory cytokines — substances suppressing the inflammation of cells. The researchers have found out that rats with various distortions of transmitting signals from anti-inflammatory cytokines to cells cannot develop a reflex of passive avoiding.
The authors have come to conclusions that an adequate transmission of a signal from anti-inflammatory cytokines to other cells of an organism has a significant impact on the memorizing new information. The distortion of this transmission lowers the capacity of learning but does not influence the recall of the information learned before.
