«Endosymbionts are typical microorganisms; in many cases, one can find similar species, genus, and the same representatives of the genus Bacillus. These substances show good anti-microbial properties,» - Prudnikova said and noticed that in future these microorganisms might be applied in producing drugs to cope with infectious diseases.

According to professor Prudnikova, apart from medicine, investigations of endosymbionts are also essential for the development of agriculture. For example, if one studies out the mechanism of producing active substances by symbionts, one could in future develop preparations for simulation of plants growth or their protection against various diseases.
