«The latest delivery consisted of 22 km of coaxial cable. 38 reels of cable weighing more than 225 tons were delivered on 13 specially equipped cargo trailers, all of which safely reached their destination near Marseille,» the report says.

Coaxial cables are part of switching systems and belong to the group of equipment related to the radiation safety of the reactor, and therefore special requirements are imposed on their manufacture, testing, and transportation. Switching equipment, bus ducts, and power-absorbing resistors for power supply and protection of the superconducting magnetic system of the ITER reactor is the most expensive and one of the most complex of the 25 systems falling within Russia’s sphere of responsibility. Its production is carried out in accordance with the agreement on supplies signed between the Russian Agency for ITER and the international ITER Organisation in 2011.
