Orenburg scientists completed the excavations of Kurgan burial ground that began over 40 years ago
The excavations of 2018 completed a series of investigations of the burial ground, that was started in 1974 by Ufa archaeologist Niyaz Majitov and continued in 2010, 2011 and 2017, the press service reported. This year, the members of the archaeological expedition studied five mounds, and now the burial ground has been excavated completely.
The experts say that most of the burial sites of the monument belonged to various stages of the Early Iron Age — the Early Sarmatian (IV century BC) and the Late Sarmatian (II-IV centuries AD) cultures. It is reported that the funerary equipment at the burials is represented by local and imported ceramics, ornaments, fibulas, and objects of everyday life.
