Grant system of Russian Science Foundation is efficient supplement to megagrants

The grant system of Russian Science Foundation (RSF) is very efficient as additional support complementary to another system of megagrants, as groundbreaking investigations require sizeable financial support. This estimation has been done by the director of the A.N. Belozersky Institute of Physical-Chemical Biology of Moscow State University (MSU), the dean of Faculty of Bioengineering and Bioinformatics MSU, member of the Academy of Science Vladimir Skulachev.

It has been previously reported that the RSF schedules to issue grants with the overall rate of 22 milliard rubles in 2018. Together with traditional for Russia scientific branches as physics of elementary particles and high energies, the large part of projects supported by RSF is represented by life sciences, with the grants for investigations in biology, agriculture, and fundamental medicine making more than 25%. Last year, the RSF allocated 16 milliard rubes for grants.
