Samara invention will help provide fresh water to arid regions of Crimea

Scientists at Samara National Research University together with experts from manufacturing enterprise 'Metalist-Samara' have completed tests of a mobile desalination apparatus that will help provide fresh water to the arid regions of Crimea, Krasnodar, and Stavropol Territories, the press service of Samara University informed.

«The testing cycle of the desalination installation has been completed successfully, and it should be delivered to Crimea in the near future for pilot operation based at Sevastopol State University, the partner of the project,» the message said.

The operation principle of the installation is based on the vacuum distillation method. The installation is supplied with heated sea water pre-cleaned by the filter. Part of it is converted into distilled water through steam. Because of vacuum boiling and evaporation occur at 50−60 degrees Celsius.
