Samara scientists have created a flying chemical laboratory based of a drone

Scientists from the Samara University have created a flying chemical laboratory based on a drone, an unmanned aircraft, which will allow to quickly obtain data on the state of air pollution, including under emergency conditions, the press-service of the university announced on Monday.

«The basis of the airborne laboratory complex is a gas microchromatograph, developed by the scientists of the university. The portable device weighs a little more than a kilogram and it completely replaces bulky laboratory devices. It is capable of giving accurate data on the composition of the atmosphere, including under emergency conditions, in just a few minutes», the message says.

The press service notes that such mobile laboratory can be used first of all by enterprises which deal with oil and gas, chemical compounds and energy, as well as other industrial ventures, which activities could result in emissions of toxic substances into the atmosphere.
