The first Russian reactor of flow-through hydrogenation has been developed in Penza

Scientists at Penza State University (PSU) have developed the first in Russia reactor of flow-through hydrogenation, which makes it possible to conduct the entire spectrum of chemical reactions based on pure hydrogen, Sergei Nesterov, a member of the group of developers of the apparatus and an associate professor at the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department of PSU.

«The flow type reactor is designed to produce in liquid form all possible chemical compounds in which there is hydrogen. There have been no such developments in Russia so far, similar reactors are produced in Hungary and Germany, but since these are all dual-use products, there are difficulties concerning using them in Russia,» Nesterov said.

The reactor is intended for use in the field of pharmaceuticals, because it makes it possible to obtain tens of thousands of various preparations. In cosmetology, the development can be used for production of deodorants. In the field of organic synthesis, the reactor allows chemists to experiment on obtaining various substances while maintaining a constant temperature and pressure.
