First Foucault pendulum inside the Arctic circle will be launched in Murmansk on Russian Science Day
The length of suspension measures 21 meters while the mass of suspension is 28 kg. Curiously enough, the suspension assembled by an inventor of the pendulum Jean Foucault during the first public exhibition of the operation of the device in the Panthéon in Paris in the middle of XIX century had the same measures.
The launch of the Foucault pendulum will open the whole program of the professional holiday of scientists which will also include lectures, excursions, and mind games for children. The pendulum will not be in operation constantly. Instead, it will be restarted for the excursion time.
