Russian and foreign astronomers have discovered an exoplanet similar to Jupiter

Members of the international project, founded at the Kourovka Astronomical Observatory at the Ural Federal University (UrFU, Yekaterinburg), have discovered a new exoplanet, which is similar to Jupiter by its characteristics, the press service of the UrFU reported.

«The scientists working for the international project have discovered a new planet outside the solar system. The newly found exoplanet, which was named KPS-1b, rotates around a star similar to the Sun … The mass and dimensions of the exoplanet KPS-1b are close to those of Jupiter, but the planet is very close to the parent star. Due to such proximity to the star, the temperature of the atmosphere of KPS-1b is much higher than that of Jupiter,» the message says.
