Russian scientists created the most efficient device for 3D printing details of engines

During an international exhibition «Metalworking-2018» in Moscow, developers from Sankt Petersburg have for the first time presented an additive robotechnical setup which they claim to be more efficient than foreign analogs. Using this setup, one can apply 3D printing method to produce high-precision details following the technology of direct laser growing, the corresponding rector of Sea Technical University Gleb Turichin said.

«This is the first industrial device created for implementing technology of direct laser growing, the first setup in the world of such class. There are no similar devices in the world if the efficiency is compared. In our case, the product is growing by several kilograms in an hour, while foreign analogs output only dozens of grams,» - Turichin commented. He also noted that an industrial trial setup is for the first time demonstrated during an exhibition and can be examined. The maximal size of detail which can be grown using this setup is 1.2 thousand millimeters.

The developers have already started to replicate the device. «The very first customer is Ufa motor-building industrial association own by United Engine Building Corporation. Two further setups are ordered by the Plant of Ship Repairing „Zvezdochka“ of United Ship Building Corporation. The devices are already under production,» — Turichin said.
