Tomsk researchers found indirect evidences of «methane hypothesis» of ancient warming

Researchers from the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) have discovered rare minerals — pyrrhotine and greigite — in the rock mass of Bakchar iron-ore deposit in West Siberian, a research assistant of TPU Maksim Rudmin said. This finding indirectly evidences on the fact that there was already sudden warming on the Earth caused by massive emissions of greenhouse gas methane.

The discovery of Tomsk scientists confirms the «methane hypothesis» which supposes that Paleocene-Eocene thermal maximum — the global climate changes, warming, and climate catastrophe 56 million years ago — was caused by the massive emission of methane and intensification of the greenhouse effect. The minerals found by scientists could be formed upon emission of methane from the bottom of an ancient sea which was located in the area of modern West Siberia.
