The experience on searches for Chelyabinsk meteorite might assist in finding Tunguska meteorite

The experience gathered during the searchers for a meteorite fallen in Chelyabinsk Region in 2013 might be used in searching for the famous Tunguska meteorite, as one should concentrate not on the explosion epicenter but the area about 80−100 kilometers farther along the flight trajectory, as it was done in the case of Chelyabinsk Region. This idea has been expressed by the meteorite investigator Sergey Kolisnichenko.

«Observations of Chelyabinsk meteorite provided a great experience. <> The explosion was here, and the window glasses went out here, but the meteorite was found in 80 kilometers from Chelyabinsk. This response delay which is underestimated by many researchers is most probably related also to Tunguska event. One should search for meteorite not in explosion epicenter but in 80−100 kilometers farther along the flight trajectory. If the researchers follow the previous successful search story, they should be able to find Tunguska meteorite,» - the geologist Kolisnichenko said on Tuesday during the press-conference in Chelyabinsk confined to the anniversary of the fall of Chelyabinsk meteorite.
