«The Barents Sea is still quite clean, despite the fact that there are a lot of industrial enterprises and military factories on the coast, and the oil and gas industry is developing. Similar situation persists at other seas where expeditions have been conducted», Ishkulov said. Also the scientists have not found any plastic microparticles in the sea.

The behaviour of animals in the Arctic was also studied during the expedition. An unexpected discovery was made, among others, namely that birds can fly not only from north to south, but also across meridians for thousands of kilometres. Additionally, scientists discovered an increase in the number of bowhead whales and observed more southern species of animals, for example, a needlefish, that have not previously gone so far to the north.
