Rock paintings of ancient mythical monsters were found in the Krasnoyarsk Territory

More than a hundred previously unknown petroglyphs have been found during the study of 'Shalabolinskaya pisanitsa' - a monument of rock art in the south of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Pisanitsa is a collection of neolithic rupestrian drawings. There are images of mythical monstrosities among the images, which were made by the hand of an ancient man about four thousand years ago. Alexander Zaika, the head of the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO) to save Shalabolinskaya pisanitsa from destruction, has informed of the developments.

«Among the images of animals, people in boats, on horses, on skis, of scenes of hunting, battles, and religious rituals there are drawings of mythical predators. This is a composite image of animals with features of wolves, bears, panthers, and wild boars. These motifs started to appear around the second millennium BC,» Zaika said.

He said that the drawings are presumably of Okunev culture — that is the name scientists use to call the culture of the inhabitants of the south of Siberia of the Bronze Age.
