HSE: Russia moved down to 32nd place in the world by the number of publications in medical sciences
«In 2015−2017 Russian researchers published about 10.7 thousand papers on medicine and health sciences, which is 0.7% of the world flow of academic articles in this field and it corresponds to the 32nd position among other countries. The close level of publication activity in the medical sciences is observed in Mexico, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, and New Zealand,» the message from the university said.
The publication activity of Russian scientists in the field of medical sciences has increased 1.6 times in the last decade, but this did not allow improving or at least retaining the 26th place occupied in 2005−2007.
«The USA holds the leading position here: in 2003−2017, the scientists from this country accounted for a third (32.7%) of all publications in international peer-reviewed publications, and the top ten countries also include China (13%), Great Britain (8.7% %), Germany (7%), Japan (5.4%), Canada (5.2%), Italy (5.2%), Australia (4.7%), France (4.4%), and the Netherlands (3.6%),» the HSE experts point out.
